As an avid believer of growth mindset, Angeline has constantly pushed herself out of her comfort zone to achieve her goals and dreams. Angeline has received several awards and titles, from Top Performers Award and Top Sales Award to Miss AFCM (Association of Finance Companies Malaysia) and Miss Elegant title at the Miss Malaysia World 1996 state level competition. The pinnacle of her banking career was earning the prestigious Triple A Asset award for best in Treasury and Working Capital category on behalf of her department, NBFI, for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015. This is an international award that recognizes the best department among all foreign and local banks in Malaysia. With strong credentials in business development and business transformation, Angeline is known for her excellent client relationship management skills.
Angeline started her career as a bank teller. After working for two and a half years, she self-funded her pursuit of a Bachelor of Business degree and graduated from University of Southern Queensland with a major in Marketing and a minor in Finance. Since then, she rose through the ranks and eventually achieved her dream in becoming an investment banker, culminating with her heading her own department, Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI), at Malaysia’s largest local bank. Throughout her career, Angeline has worked at various companies from banking to IT such as UOB, Citibank, AmBank, Maybank, Pentasoft Technologies and Profitera Corporation, just to name a few.
Her vast experience in sales, marketing and operations spanned across various industries, from retail banking to investment banking, from selling mutual funds to insurance, marketing IT training programmes to selling timeshare membership. With her core skills in client relationship management, Angeline has helped bridge the communication gap between the bank and its customers enabling her to sell multiple products and grow revenue as well as to lead important projects such as business transformation, risk management and client onboarding.
In year 2000, at AmFinance, Angeline has successfully transformed her branch employees' role from bank tellers to multi-function sales and service staff and achieved an increase in Unit Trust sales from zero to MYR1Mil in one year with only three staffs with no prior sales experience. Hence, this not only helped the bank to reskill its workforce, it has also helped the bank increase revenue and save thousands of dollars in transformation cost.
During her tenure in UOB as a Relationship Manager, Angeline sold more than MYR10Mil in Unit Trust sales and achieved Top 5 in Unit Trust sales in the country. In 2004, she was one of the top salesperson for Bonds and Structured Investment products. In 2005, she was again one of the top sales for Structured Investment products where she achieved more than MYR6Mil in structured investment sales. After leaving UOB, Angeline was head hunted to join RHB where she led two RHB priority bank branches. She exceeded her 3 months target for Unit Trust sales with a total sales of MYR8.3Mil. In 2006, her team generated a total of MYR20Mil Unit Trust sales (an increase of 140% or 2.4 times) within a year and became the top performing team in the country.
In 2017 at Maybank, besides her sales and business development role, Angeline has spearheaded and managed risk management projects for the bank that has helped the bank save cost in lending by as much as 80%. In 2018, at Standard Chartered Bank, she successfully transformed her team's performance from bottom to top performing team within 6 months.
After working for more than 20 years, Angeline left the banking industry to self-publish her first book, Wisdom of the Past as a means to continuously push herself out of her comfort zone as well as to honour her great-great grandfather. To date, Angeline has written three books: Wisdom of the Past, Secrets to Unlocking Your Unlimited Potential, and Purposeful Power Breakthrough, which have inspired thousands of people and touched many lives, helping individuals turn their lives around after personal crises and encouraging them to find new life directions.
In March 2023, Angeline achieved Amazon's No.1 International Bestselling Author title for her book Purposeful Power Breakthrough, which has sold more than 2,800 copies internationally and ranked No.1 in 80 categories, in 11 countries including Amazon US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, and India.
